Based on traffic and revenue forecasts Act 44 provides a minimum of $83.3 billion over 50 years for transportation in Pennsylvania. It allows:
- Over $20 billion directly invested in the reconstruction of I-80;
- $2.5 billion provided to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the first four years alone for roads, bridges and transit; and
- Nearly half of all PA interstate mileage would be self funded and maintained by user fees.
The total payment scheduled by year follows:
- FY ’08 —$750 million

- FY ’09 —$850 million

- FY ’10 — $900 million
- FY ’11 and beyond — contribution increases 2.5 percent annually
More than 50 percent of the revenue will be used for roads and bridges.
