Bridge Replacements

In order to accommodate the new six-lane facility, two overhead bridges will need to be replaced prior to the start of construction on the Turnpike mainline. The first bridge replacement contract will be for the bridge carrying Valley Forge Road (SR 0252) over the PA Turnpike at Milepost 324. This bridge is currently in final design with construction tentatively scheduled to begin in 2009.

The second bridge replacement contract will be for the bridge carrying Mill Road (T-540) over the PA Turnpike at Milepost 322. The bridge is also currently in final design with construction tentatively scheduled to begin in 2010.

The Turnpike mainline contract, which includes replacement of the mainline bridges, is scheduled to start final design in the summer of 2007 with construction tentatively scheduled to begin in 2011.
