PROJECT SUMMARY:
Reconstruction of a 3.4 mile section in York County

PROJECT START:
2006

PROJECT CONSTRUCTION START:
2012

PROJECT DESIGN COMPLETION:
2013

PROJECT CONSTRUCTION COMPLETION:
2016

PROJECT TOTAL: $75 million estimated construction cost

This project is a part of the PTC’s commitment to completely rebuild the entire Turnpike, which in this section was built in 1950.  The condition of the pavement and increase in traffic have warranted the reconstruction and widening.

The construction projects will begin in 2013 with the replacement of the Marsh Run Road Bridge and Old York Road Bridge over the Turnpike in Fairview Township, York County.  These bridge replacement projects will continue throughout 2013 and include the complete replacement of the two bridges.  The existing Marsh Run Road will not be closed during replacement, but due to project constraints the Old York Road Bridge will be closed during replacement.  While Old York Road is closed, detour signs will direct traffic to I83.  Refer to the Travel Advisory section of this website for updated traffic information.
