PROJECT CONSTRUCTION COMPLETION:
PROJECT TOTAL: $75 million estimated construction cost
This project is a part of the PTC’s commitment to completely rebuild the entire Turnpike, which in this section was built in 1950. The condition of the pavement and increase in traffic have warranted the reconstruction and widening.
The construction projects will begin in 2013 with the replacement of the Marsh Run Road Bridge and Old York Road Bridge over the Turnpike in Fairview Township, York County. These bridge replacement projects will continue throughout 2013 and include the complete replacement of the two bridges. The existing Marsh Run Road will not be closed during replacement, but due to project constraints the Old York Road Bridge will be closed during replacement. While Old York Road is closed, detour signs will direct traffic to I83. Refer to the Travel Advisory section of this website for updated traffic information.
The purpose of this web site is to provide you with timely, accurate construction project information to facilitate a favorable travel experience when using Pennsylvania's Turnpike system.
Keeping you informed about planned construction activity on the Turnpike will help you to prepare for safe navigation through construction work zone areas. This website will be updated intermittently throughout the construction to provide you with current available information.
The project is scheduled to be completed in late fall 2017.
